Basic vocabulary in PE


Basic vocabulary-1st Term


We are using this vocabulary in the PE lessons so, it is very important that you know it to understand what the teachers explain everyday.

1º VERBS OF MOVEMENTS :

-Get into groups of  ... people, or form groups of three:Formar grupos de tres.
-To make a circle or form a circle:Hacer un círculo.
-To spread out: Separarse.
-To lie: Tumbarse.
-To stand up: Levantarse.
-To run: Correr.
-To sprint: Correr rápido.
-To slow down:Ir más despacio.
-To hurry up: Darse prisa.
-To chase: Perseguir.
-To follow: Seguir. 
-To tilt: Inclinar.
-To turn:Girar.
-To bend: Doblar.
-To pass: Pasar.
-To receive: Recibir.
-To carry or to transport: Transportar.
-To pull: Tirar.
-To push: Empujar.
-To raise or lift: Levantar.
-To jump: Saltar
-To hold: Agarrar
-To hook: Agarrarse por los brazos, enganchados por codos.
-To hop: Saltar con un solo apoyo

2º PREPOSITIONS.

-TO MOVE:

Forwards or to the front: Hacia adelante.  To the left:Hacia la izquierda
Backwards or to the back: Hacia atrás .    To the right:Hacia la derecha.

FIRST TERM NOTES

1.Fitness.
The four components of fitness are:


Fuerza
Strength
Flexibilidad
Suppleness or flexibility
Resistencia
Stamina or endurance
Velocidad
Speed


2. Parts of the lesson.

  1. Warm up
  2. Main part
  3. Cool down.

a) Warm up:

A series of activities or exercises that you do before any type of physical activity, which is more intensive than normal”.

Parts of the warm up:

Joint movements
Muscle Stretching
Running

At the end of the warm-up your heart rate should be between 100 and 120 beats per minute.

b) Main Part:

In the main part, you do the principle activities. For example, today we’re going to do strength exercises.

c) Cool down.

The Cool down is a series of activities or exercises that you do after the main part to bring down your heart rate. In the cool down you will do: stretches, breathing exercises, as well as talking about the workout or the session.

The skeletal system produces movements such as running, walking, throwing and anything else that involves body movement.

The human body has several muscles. There are about six hundred muscles but we will only learn the most important ones.
